As Muslims the world over commenced Ramadan fast, a Stalwart of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mallam Saliu Mustapha, has called on the rich Muslims in the country to deploy their wealth for the purpose of alleviating the suffering of the people.
He said the deployment of such wealth on the divine path was necessary in view of the hardship many citizens, especially Muslims are grappling with amid the ravaging coronavirus pandemic.
In a statement issued in Ilorin through the Media office of his Non Governmental Organization, Saliu Mustapha Foundation, the APC chieftain admonished Muslims to use the sacred month to seek Allah’s forgiveness for their sins.
He particularly told Muslims around the world to leverage on the bounty available in the month of Ramadan to pray to Allah for an end to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The former APC governorship aspirant in Kwara State noted that the pandemic had humbled the rich and the poor around the world with a strong indication that wealth, quest for luxuries and power are meaningless, thereby heighting fear of Allah and strengthening the act of worship.
Mustapha, stressed the need for Muslims, especially those in power to repent from sins and other wrongdoings.
The former Deputy National Chairman of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change, prayed Allah to save Muslim ummah from devil’s way and called for more charity and good deeds.
Mustapha asked Muslims to use this holiest month to draw closer to the Almighty Allah and allow the teachings and lessons of the Glorious Qur’an and sayings of the Hadith reflect in their dealings.
“The sacred month of Ramadan is here again. We thank the Almighty Allah for sparing our lives, especially Muslims to be counted among the living souls in spite of the ravaging COVID-19 pandemic.
“To say it is a challenging time for all of us, particularly Muslim faithful, is the least. The coronavirus pandemic has also increased the spate of hardship among our people. We therefore use this medium to appeal to the rich Muslims to deploy their wealth in alleviating the suffering of the people”, the APC chieftain said.
